Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s most extraordinary natural wonders and a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in northern Tanzania. Formed millions of years ago by a massive volcanic eruption, the crater is the world’s largest intact caldera, creating a unique and self-contained ecosystem teeming with wildlife.
The crater floor is home to an incredible concentration of animals, including the famous Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and the rare black rhino. Its lush grasslands, lakes, and forests support thousands of animals living in a natural enclosure surrounded by steep volcanic walls.
